Hemingway's Michigan

Ernest Hemingway's family owned a waterfront house on Walloon Lake, and the legendary writer spent the summers of his youth here in our very area. The sites on this tour are based upon Professor Ken Marek’s careful research and all reflect locations associated with either Ernest Hemingway’s life or with his writing. At eleven sites you will find a bronze marker with text explaining the site’s significance. Locations range from downtown Petoskey to Walloon Lake to Horton Bay, all within a short drive of Bay Harbor.
