Family looking out at Lake Michigan in winter

Blogger Q&A: House of Navy

After she, her husband, and two sons recently visited the Inn for a January getaway, we caught up with blogger Dana on her take on their trip. Read on for an inside look at their first winter trip to the Inn and what they did during their time in northern Michigan!

Q: Tell us what you liked most about your wintertime visit to the Inn?

A: There's truly something for everyone in the family when visiting the Inn. My husband enjoyed soaking in the outdoor hot tub with views of the bay, Leo loved skipping rocks by the water, Warren devoured the tasty cookies from the front desk, and I was even able to spend a lazy Saturday morning at the spa indulging in the Northern Luxury Pedicure. Winter at the Inn is both relaxing & rejuvenating!

Q: Which accommodations would you recommend for young, traveling families?

A: The Inn offers incredible adjoining rooms that are perfect for young families. Our boys loved having their own beds to watch a movie and play and after tucking them in for the night, we were able to enjoy the fireplace, views of Lake Michigan, and a bottle of wine peacefully.  (Insider tip: order the Charcuterie Board to go from Vintage. It is delicious!)

Q: What was your kids’ favorite part about your visit?

A: Our boys love to be outside and the Inn provides the perfect winter backdrop to play! From complimentary snowshoeing on property, to making snow angels, and nearby sledding hills, we tried and loved it all!

Q: What ‘Don’t Miss’ insider tip would you share for a visit to northern Michigan?

A: A few insider tips for your visit:

-If you're skiing nearby, order the skier's lunch from the Inn Cafe to go with you! There are tons of delicious, healthy options to keep you fueled all day long.

-The signature Petoskey Hot Stone massage or Northern Luxury Pedicure at the Spa are unforgettable. If you don't have time for a service, be sure to still stop in to the spa to shop the boutique. There are beautiful artisan candles, luxury garments, and unique jewelry and gifts.

-While you could easily spend your entire stay on property, if you venture to nearby Petoskey, be sure to check out Happy's Tacos, part of the food trucks at the Backlot. You can walk off the tacos with shopping downtown or a self guided tour of Hemingway's favorite spots.
